You might already know that the fight against Multiple Sclerosis is VERY near and dear to my heart because my mom has been battling MS for nearly a decade. It's a disease most people aren't familiar with until someone close to them, or maybe even they themselves, receives a diagnosis.
Actress Selma Blair was diagnosed with MS last year, and I have been closely following her on Instagram to understand her story. She has been so transparent and so open about what she's been facing, and in turn has been a champion for millions of people living with MS whose voices are not so widely heard.
She sat down with Robin Roberts after her emotional return to the Red Carpet at the Oscars and gave a brave, sometimes tearful interview.
Her diagnosis is unique, as each one is, and it is a reminder to me that MS does not discriminate. It doesn't care if you're male or female, or if you're famous or not. And the fight for a cure will take all of us, and it's within reach!!
KISW's Walk MS Team is back at it on Saturday, April 6th in Snohomish and I would LOVE to have you join our team, raising funds and awareness for a world free from Multiple Sclerosis.
If you can't join us for the walk, please consider making a donation to support the live-changing work of the National MS Society.
I can't express enough how much I appreciate Selma Blair stepping into the spotlight, not being afraid to stand proud and talk about MS. It means a great deal to see someone utilize such a massive platform to bring people together for increased awareness.
And thank you, Rockaholics, for always supporting me, my awesome mom and the MILLIONS of others impacted by Multiple Sclerosis.
Happy Adventuring,
Taryn Daly
