Female Artist You Should Be Following

Cover Image

If you guys follow my podcast, The Broad-Cast , you probably heard my ranting about a disappointing encounter I had with an artist.

You can get the whole lowdown here:

Now that I have vented, I wanted to balance out the negativity with some positivity.

I want to make this super clear though: My story is in NO WAY meant to discourage anyone from supporting independent artists whether it's painters, designers, musicians, or whatever, I will always try and support indie artists first! My favorite thing is buy art directly from the artist whether at an art walk, fair, or even comic con!

In fact, after this whole thing, I went to a tattoo artist friend of mine (one you will see later in this blog) and am having her design the art instead. I want it to be 100% her work, I gave her a few things I wanted but this is going to be her creation.

It's also a nice treat for yourself to follow amazing artist and have your feed full of their work.

So without further ado, here are my favorite female artists you should be following too!

Camilla d'Errico

One of my favorite interviews from Emerald City Comic Con was with the talented Camilla d'Errico. Her art is a mix of trippy and adorable!

Check out the interview here:

Mariana Amaral

I've had the chance to work with Mariana, she is one of the sweetest and most talented ladies I have ever met. Currently she is tattooing at Cicada Tattoo in North Seattle and her Instagram is a catalog of amazing work!

ZCans

A few comic cons ago, I saw ZCans selling her spray paint art outside of a comic con, and I fell in love with her work. I ended up chatting with her for a while and bought a print. She not only works with spray paint but regular paint as well!

Meescha Dare

I've known Meescha for years and what a sweetheart. Not only is her work beautifully ethereal, is's so fun to watch her time lapse videos!

Carissa Kaye Powell

The only artist on this list I have not had the pleasure of meeting, but I am a super fan of her work. I love that she has so many different styles but they are all her own.

But if I'm being completely honest, how I came across her work and what really pulled me in are her adorable animal comics which leave me feeling like she is writing these based off my life.

I am always looking for more artists to follow, so shoot them by me anytime! Don't forget to support your local and/or independent artists!

Until Next Time, Stay Nerdy!
