Extreme's "Thick Than Blood" 2023 tour with openers Living Colour hit Seattle at the Showbox 8.29.23. This was the first time Extreme has played Seattle in decades so it was a quick sell-out of a show. Guitar heroes Nuno Bettencourt and Vernon Reid gave the guitar heads in the crowd more than they could handle with their 6-string acrobats this night! Extreme is on tour in support of their first new awesome album in 15 years with "Six" released in June of this year.

Extreme's 2 hour set was a well received setlist covering all their past hits and fan favorites including "Get The Funk Out", "Decadence Dance" "Rest In Peace" and of course their #1 ballad hit "More Than Words". Live this band is as active onstage as they were in their 20s! The new songs "Rise" "Rebel" and "Other Side of the Rainbow" sounded great! Gary Cherone vocals sounded great and the highlight of any Extreme show is the guitar playing of the one and only Nuno Bettencourt. It was hilarious, cause every time he soloed the cell phones went up and when he was done they were down. The band is back to touring (even though I've seen/shot them many times the past near decade on the Monster of Rock Cruise) and plan lots more into 2024!

Openers Living Colour, it was my 30th year shooting the band live. My first show was 5.1.93 at the Paramount Theatre with our local heroes Sweet Water opening. See my 30 year between shots of guitarist Vernon Reid and singer Corey Glover at the very end of the photo gallery below. Their set was 45min of awesomeness including their mega hit "Cult of Personality" and others like "Funky Vibe" and "Glamour Boys", but they also cranked a few famous covers like "Rock and Roll" "Should I Stay or Should I Go" and "Nothing Compares 2 U".
The band had constant fun onstage. Corey Glovers vocals were mind-blowing dead on especially when he hit a few mega high screams. Did you know he played in the classic movie "Platoon"? Guitarist Vernon Reid tore the fretboard up, always with a smile. Living Colour's last album was back in 2017 with a release called "Shade". This was the last show of this U.S. run for both bands. Nobody left this show thinking they didn't get their monies worth.
