The Offspring. The band that changed what indie music could do with their 1994 album 'Smash'. How do you follow that up? In my humble opinion, they did it the best way possible. "Ixnay on the Hombre" the follow up album came out on this day 25 years ago.
Now, I love this album. And controversial opinion, it is actually my favorite Offspring album, yes, even over 'Smash'. I am not sure why, but this album has always hit so hard for me, but it did. Plus, February 4th is also another big day for the Offspring because it's guitar god Noodles' birthday! He turns 58! And still rocks the punk rock harder than most bands of the same age. So let's celebrate with some of my favorite tracks from Ixnay!
Of course, you have to start with this banger. Such a fast and fun song, I once saw an interview where they talked about how they just wanted this video to portray speed. And it delivers.
The Meaning of Life is another great song, what a way to start out this album. Fast, loud, and ready to rock!
Now I am gonna finish off with not only my favorite song on the album, but my favorite Offspring song in general. This song for some reason has just always been so rad to me. Great riffs, great lyrics about growing up, and just a great video. Check it out!
