How many years did you work at KISW? Six years, 1989-95
What position(s) did you work at KISW? Intern, Production Assistant, Promotions Assistant
What are your three greatest memories at KISW? 1. Drop In The Park. Such a great event to take part in with the entire Seattle radio and music communities.
2. Seafair Weekend(s) during the Goodwill Games and when Stimpy was a driver. Great times to be a part of an iconic event with an iconic station.
3. The people. Cathy Faulkner, Jon Ballard, Mike Jones, Terry Gangstad, Beau Phillips, Skye Daniels, Steve Slaton, Dan Wilkie, Cathy Keller...The list could go on and on, but these were some of the best people I have had the good fortune to work with.
What’s a story you couldn’t tell people back in the day? Playing with The Flys at the Purdy Women's Center (prison) and being blown a kiss by the woman playing first base. She was in for aggravated assault, or so I was told, and for this kid from Redmond it was an eye opener.
What band were you most proud to bring to a bigger audience? Brad, The Lovemongers, and the other 'super' groups.
How has Seattle changed the most? The community isn't as tight and small as it once was. There are a lot more transplants now and the shared experiences just are not there for bonding.
What’s something you never thought you’d see? 38,000 people in Magnusson Park to see Pearl Jam and Cypress Hill.
What’s your best memory of meeting a rock star? Giving a Yankees score update to Joey Ramone at the old AP wire printer at 712 Aurora. As a huge Ramones fan, this was awesome.
Who was your best friend at the station back in the day? Cathy Keller and Cathy Faulkner. They have been mentors and friends for 30 years now.
Name a KISW band you still love! Most of the Seattle scene bands (AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc.)
Favorite concert from your time at KISW? The Who at the Tacoma Dome when Pete ran the tremelo bar through his hand.
What was your most memorable band interview? The whole week that Joe Walsh was in the building.
