What position(s) did you work at KISW? Intern, Metal Shop Dir./Host, Weekend, Overnight, Fill-in Air Talent, Twisted Tune Singer
What are your three greatest memories at KISW?
1. The lifelong friendships I made
2. Recording "I Am Santa Claus"
3. My Dad hearing me tell him I loved him on the radio as he left Seattle for the last time.
What’s a story you couldn’t tell people back in the day? I'm assuming you want a story "from" back in the day I'd be hesitant to retell? Skiing all day at Crystal Mountain with Jerry Cantrell, Paul Uhlir, Tommy McMullin and Owen Wright. J.C. decided to rent a Chalet. Many shots, and hours of skinny dipping later, I crashed and made the mistake of leaving my camera accessible to a bunch of drunk Seattle musicians. I'm not sure whose penis I have several photos of, but it's quite small.
What band were you most proud to bring to a bigger audience? War Babies (I tried)
How has Seattle changed the most? Long before COVID-19, live music venues began closing their doors.
What’s something you never thought you’d see? My own distaste for broadcast automation. Long Live KISW and jocks who now how to say Sequim.
What’s your best memory of meeting a rock star? My wife, myself and our 5 mos. old son meeting Sav and Rick from Def Leppard. Shortly afterward I stood on stage with my son in a "Snuggie" and welcomed the band to Seattle. Taylor's first concert.
Who was your best friend at the station back in the day? Spike O'Neil
Name a KISW band you still love! King's X
Favorite concert from your time at KISW? Unfortunately most of the really awesome concerts fell on a Friday or Saturday night and I was on the air. Meeting Ronnie James Dio at the Paramount was something I'll never forget, but my fondest memory is early on in my career, representing KISW at the Kim Mitchell show in Vancouver B.C. I have been a huge "Akimbo" fan for decades.
What was your most memorable band interview? What was only supposed to be a 30 minute interview with Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) turned into a 2 hour acoustic jam, lunch on the patio at Chandler's Cove and a gift of 1 Ian Gillan (our favorite singer) Japan 1978 Bootleg CD.
Where is Rockfish today? Rocks the mic with his band Rockfish & Friends, coming to a stage near you as soon as the global pandemic is behind us!
