BIO:
On the heels of a highly anticipated, jam packed Record Store Day performance at Easy Street Records on April 22, Seattle rock band the Rockfords have announced a concert at The Showbox on Saturday, July 29, 2023. This will be the Rockfords' first full-set, headlining club show since they played Seattle's Crocodile Cafe in 2003.
Formed in 1999, The Rockfords features longtime friends and Seattle standouts Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Chris and Rick Friel, Danny Newcomb (Goodness) and Carrie Akre (Goodness/Hammerbox). The band released The Rockfords on February 1, 2000 and Waiting (EP) in late 2003. With only a handful of live shows in 2000 and 2003, the band reunited on the Showbox stage for a surprise performance at the 2013 Flight to Mars benefit show. The Rockfords also played a short set at Seattle's Tractor Tavern in 2015 for the HockeyTalkter Records showcase, a record label McCready founded that same year.
As part of the 2023 Record Store Day series, the Rockfords issued their 2000 self-titled debut full-length album, along with their 2003 EP Waiting, on vinyl for the first time. The double gatefold LP Vinyl Voice Editions release was limited to 2,200 copies in partnership between Monkeywrench, Inc. and Real Gone Music. The release was the number one selling album at Easy Street Records for two consecutive weeks following Record Store Day.
Supporting the Rockfords at this show will be Seattle's Jodie Watts, which is fronted by The Rockfords bassist Rick Friel.
