"Ladies and Gentlemen - The Rolling Stones"! For 6 decades the Rolling Stones have ruled the rock world as what many title them as "The Greatest Rock Band of all Time". It's hard not to agree with a resume that started with their debut album in 1964 and now with their 28th studio album "Hackney Diamonds" being supported on this current 2024 tour that's over 60 years! That's longer than I've been alive by a few years. Insane! The first time the Stones played Seattle was December 2, 1965 at the Seattle Center Coliseum.

What's even more insane is how often do you ever get to photograph 2 rock legends still mobile and rocking onstage in their 80s? Mick Jagger at 80 years old is still jumping and running around the gigantic stage and walkouts like he's still 30 years old, Keith Richards at 80 is still strumming and soloing like a day since the 60s hasn't past. Ok lets face it, age is showing on them, but energy wise these two cats are defying the (tour sponsor) AARP stigma that things slow down when ya get older or retire. Throw in Ronnie Wood at 76 years old and still as active onstage as ever, you have the trifecta unheard of in our lifetime in Rock in Roll history!

Blasting through a 2-hr 19 song set that included the crowd picked (fan's attending vote online before the show between 4 songs listed) "Wild Horses" (played for the first time on this tour) the full setlist included: Start Me Up / Get Off of My Cloud / Let's Spend the Night Together / Angry / It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (but I Like It) / Wild Horses (fan-voted winner) / Whole Wide World / Tumbling Dice / You Can't Always Get What You Want / You Got the Silver / Little T&A / Sympathy for the Devil / Honky Tonk Women / Miss You / Gimme Shelter / Paint It Black / Jumpin' Jack Flash / Encore: Sweet Sounds of Heaven / (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
The 3 new songs from "Hackney Diamonds" played this night sounded great and fit in with the classics fine. Speaking of the new album, did you know the band released a very limited edition MLB white baseball vinyl editions of "Hackney Diamonds" for each team? I of course bought the Seattle Mariners version that I'm sure is a collectors piece already in the Rolling Stones world! Truly is a surprisingly great Stones record. Their first in nearly 20 years.

Speaking of merch stuff, the Stone's had that covered for fans in every part inside and outside of Lumen Field. Thank goodness they had a Seattle show print shirt for Stephanie and the amazing litho vintage Seattle gum wall tongue poster for me. I would've went broke if I kept looking ha!

While out there photographing the merch units we ran into the famous Stone's tongue lady Lori up from Arizona! She use to live up here so was cool to see her back in town! That tongue has been all over the world at shows!

Last words on the show. Visually big and bold for football stadium viewing, sound was pretty decent and even sounded good outside the venue heading to car as we did before the 50k+ left at the end, band was great even though little sloppy here and there, but who cares right? It's the Rolling Stones in freakin 2024!! Who would've ever predicted that AARP moment?

I think Seattle got the best of the openers on this whole tour in blues rock guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa. His 45min set included just 5 songs but they were long jammers!
Hope You Realize It (Goodbye Again)
Twenty‐Four Hour Blues (Bobby “Blue” Bland cover)
Love Ain't a Love Song
Self-Inflicted Wounds
Mountain Time (with Hendrix "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" tease)

Joe has one of the best followings in the business. Saw lots of Bonamassa fans/shirts in the crowd. And for those Stone fans unaware of him they were instant fans with his and great bands performance with the show ending reaction! One of the world's best blues rock guitarist for sure.

Check out Joe Bonamassa's "Live At The Hollywood Bowl" with full orchestra album/dvd/blue-ray releasing June 21st on J&R Adventures. Pre-order now at https://jbonamassa.com. Also check out all his remaining tour dates for 2024 throughout UK, South America and USA.
