The Foo Fighters frontman spent his birthday stirring up huge vats of chili and cooking meals for Los Angeles residents who have lost everything they hold dear, as well as for inmate fire firefighters who have been on the frontlines fighting back the fires.

Grohl, who lives in the L.A. neighborhood of Encino, was snapped on Feed the Streets Los Angeles’ Instagram Story in a short clip showing him mixing and marching with a purpose alongside other volunteers.
