'Wonder Woman 1984' review - spoilers inside!

The Rev, Vicky B, BJ Shea and Joey Deez

Hello Rock-A-Holics and welcome to the first blog of the 2021 year!

I thought we'd start off this year's blogs with a movie that has become quite the topic of conversation recently, Wonder Woman 1984.

Before you read any further, be warned! I will be spoiling a bit of the movie in the review below. Ok ready? lets do this!

This is the second installment of the Wonder Woman series featuring Gal Gadot as our Amazonian heroine and as you could probably guess by the title it takes place in 1984! A popular time period these days thanks to shows like Stranger Things, bright colors and nostalgic music was sure to be found all throughout the movie. Or maybe not?

I'm not sure where to start but lets dive into the plot. A failing oil tycoon finds a magic wishing stone that grants him the power to make peoples wishes come true...but at a cost! Think of a mysterious monkey paw or perhaps a deal with the devil. You may recognize the actor as Pedro Pascal aka The Mandalorian as the story follows this power hungry villain who can't seem to get what he wants.....despite being able to wish for literally anything.

Chris Pine gets wished back to life....in another mans body. Kristen Wiig turns into a Cheetah..... and Wonder Woman flies! In a plane and in the air. No really, this movie is freaking crazy.

I don't want to spend the entire blog bitching about the ridiculousness of a superhero movie so instead i'll share with you a hilarious spoof video of what it would be like to be in the pitch meeting for this "unique" movie.

All this stuff happens, AND MORE!

Look, I can't in good conscious tell you this was a good movie, but it was definitely entertaining.

BJ Shea, The Reverend En Fuego, Vicky B and myself spend a solid 45 minutes going through all the ridiculousness that occurs in this movie in the more recent episode of BJ Shea's Geek Nation!

The episode gets heated quickly as we try and dissect all the "greatness" that makes up this movie.

The reviews are polarizing to say the least as most fans seem to either love or hate the movie.

Personally, the movie has made my top 5 worst movies of all time. Maybe I had high hopes, maybe it was the 2 hour and 40 minute run time, or maybe it was the food coma I was in after all the holiday treats I ate, but no matter the reason, I will not be watching this movie again.

But maybe you enjoyed it! Which is great, because that's what gets us more superhero movies - which is never a bad thing.

Have you seen Wonder Woman 1984? What did you think of the movie?
