Linkin Park talk tour life, building setlists, and more during surprise interview

'You scared the crap out of me'

You ever surprise a co-worker with a card or a cake after a long time away? While when you work at the World Famous KROQ in Los Angeles, you surprise them with Linkin Park. That was the scene on Wednesday, as Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong from the band barged into the KROQ studio to surprise Kevin Ryder during his new afternoon show, after several years away from the station.

"You scared the crap out of me," Kevin exclaims as Shinoda enters the studio with a bull horn. "I'm sure people listening are like, what is even happening right now?" Mike responds.

You're not just gonna have Linkin Park in the studio and not try to get some details on their upcoming tour, so we asked the two about plans for their North American tour which picks up later this month in Austin. "We play the hits, and then we add in some other stuff that we that we like, and we add in some new stuff that we haven't played before, The future hits," laughs Shinoda.

"There's still things that scare me," Emily explains of her time stepping into the huge shoes at the front of Linkin Park. "But for the most part I've gotten a good grip on it and having a lot of fun."

"You put in like put in the work and the fans know that and they respect it," Shinoda adds. "People could have been nasty or whatever and they're not. They really have been so supportive."
