Where Are They Now: Adam Gehrke

Adam Gehrke from KISW

How many years did you work at KISW? In total about 6

What position(s) did you work at KISW? Intern, host of Metal Shop, weekends and fill-in air talent

What are your three greatest memories at KISW?
1. Starting a riot at FDC Sea-Tac on accident.
2. A moderately crazed female listener trying to lure me out of the building with a case of beer in the bushes.
3. Getting an hour alone interview with Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden.

...and the concerts...I miss those.

What's a story you couldn't tell people back in the day? Hosting Suicidal Tendencies one night, so many F bombs, shields were down, delay depleted, nightmare interview. That or the aforementioned deranged listener's further attempts to get my attention - she got quite bold.

What band were you most proud to bring to a bigger audience? Nevermore, the Bronx Casket Co., Rorschach Test, too many to list.

How has Seattle changed the most? The socioeconomic shift from building planes and chopping trees, to banging keyboards and e-commerce.

What's something you never thought you'd see? The Miss Rock Hydroplane burning. I also never thought I'd see her win....still hasn't happened...

What's your best memory of meeting a rock star? A listener to Metal Shop called and offered to make dinner for the band Nevermore. I was invited, too. The restaurant was The Adriatica, our host was the sous chef Matt Mesuda.

Who was your best friend at the station back in the day? Tough call, Cathy was technically my radio mom. Andy Guyer was a partner in crime. Damon Stewart and I had the most paths crossing, and I still occasionally work with Scott Vanderpool.

Name a KISW band you still love! Metallica

Favorite concert from your time at KISW? One of the Ozzfests, possibly Tool, or was it a Metallica show at CenturyLink, could also be Anthrax at the Ballard Firehouse or Type O Negative at the Rckndy... too many to list!

What was your most memorable band interview? Bruce Dickenson, Peter Steele, the Abbott Bothers from Pantera, again too many to list.

Where is Adam Gehrke now? Turn on your television - he serves as Traffic Overlord on Q13 every weekday morning.
