The Black Crowes are turning back time in their music video for their previously unreleased song “Charming Mess.”

The song comes from the sessions of The Black Crowes 1990 debut album Shake Your Money Maker. Although in person celebrations of the album’s 30th anniversary were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the album will see a deluxe edition released, which includes the track “Charming Mess.”
The video is like an entry into The Black Crowes time capsule and features footage of the band in their early days, old press and publicity photos, lyric sheets, ticket stubs from past concerts, and more.
There’s also plenty of special effects that hearken back to classic music videos from the early 90s.
After a five year hiatus, The Black Crowes were set to return with a massive tour in the summer of 2020 that would see the band celebrate the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker.
Unfortunately, the tour had to be postponed until the summer of 2021. While it still remains to be seen whether or not these shows will take place, the band had already promised that they would be unlike any fans had ever seen before.
"We never played Shake Your Money Maker in its entirety when it came out. We definitely never played it in its sequence," Chris Robinson said in an interview back in 2020. Part of the idea is to come back to this record and focus on it and not to be jamming, not to be expanding our sound or focus about where we're going and what's going to happen next.”
The 30th anniversary edition of Shake Your Money Maker arrives on February 26.
