Volbeat is back with their first new music since 2019 and their new single “Wait A Minute My Girl” packs a serious punch. At just over two minutes long, Volbeat wastes no time getting your ears hooked.
Long known for the fusion of a wide-variety of rock elements, “Wait A Minute My Girl” sees Volbeat once again bring in seldom used sounds. For one, there’s a roaring saxophone solo that may catch you by surprise.
“It’s kind of like a continuation from the last record,” Rob Caggiano told Audacy’s Ryan Castle. “We have a song called ‘Die To Live’ and it’s the guy from JD McPherson doing their thing. Everyone in this band is really influenced by that old school rock ‘n’ roll vibe so it works.”
Like the rest of their upcoming record, “Wait A Minute My Girl” is a product of the band working together remotely. Caggiano was in the U.S. while his bandmates were in Europe. “We basically had no choice but to work remotely,” he says. “But it seemed to work out.”
It’s been awhile since Volbeat last took the stage, but that’ll all change on August 10 when they play the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA. Caggiano opened up about his feelings on what the experience will be like. “I think the first shows back are going to be pretty emotional, pretty powerful.”
