Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, Nevada’s gaming win topped the $1 billion mark. It’s the first time that’s happened since February of 2020.

What’s especially impressive is that the figure was hit while international travel continues to be virtually non-existent.

Nevada’s total gaming win was $1.067 billion for the month, a 72.7 percent increase over March 2020, when casinos were forced to close for the last half of that month.

Clark County’s win was up 63.4 percent to $893.2 million, while Strip win was up 67.2 percent to $$501.4 million. Downtown Las Vegas climbed 63.4 percent to $71 million.

As you might expect, things are also picking up at McCarran International Airport.

2.6 million people went through the airport in March. That number is up nearly 60% from the 1.6 million passengers reported in February of this year, according to figures from the Clark County Department of Aviation.

It's also up by 24.7% from the flyer total reported in March 2020, when the pandemic began.

The number of international travelers nearly doubled from February to March, but the number is still quite low - just 17,000.

Overall, though, passenger traffic remains down 43.5% from 2020. That figures to rebound with each new monthly report, considering that there was a virtual shutdown of air travel between April and June of last year.
