Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – North Las Vegas Police shot and killed a man following a crash on Wednesday afternoon, the first shooting involving the department this year.
It all started around 4:30pm after a crash occurred at Gowan and North 5th Street. When police arrived, they say one of the drivers involved was standing on the roof of his car, acting erratically and holding a sharp object.
Police asked the man to drop the object. Instead, they say he jumped off of the car and ran toward an officer. Police then fired, striking the man. He was taken to U.M.C., but died from his wounds.
One officer suffered minor injuries.
The identity of the officers involved will be released within the next 72 hours.
