Despite not having a professional sports championship in over a decade, you can not deny that Dallas is a bona fide sports town.

In fact, the Sports Business Journal recently ranked the 50 best “sports business cities” in the country, and placed Dallas at the very top of the list, ahead of New York, Charlotte, and Minneapolis.

Dallas secured the top ranking due to the city’s “magnetism for new residents, businesses, sports events, sponsors and vendors.”

“Dallas is clearly the star,” the publication said in the announcement earlier this morning.

Monica Paul, the executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission, said the honor was humbling and confirming. She told the Dallas Morning News that Dallas is a hub of teams, sponsors and agencies that allows executives to get all their business done in one place.

“It’s something that I live and breathe and believe in my heart every day,” she said. “It gives us an additional voice outside of our own that says, ‘Yes, Dallas is the number one sports business city.’”
