Viviane de Queiroz Pereira is a singer from Brazil who had a recent stay in the hospital that honestly, could've been very easily prevented.
You see, Pereira just refused to fart in front of her boyfriend and suffered a dangerous gas buildup because of it.
Pereira, who goes by the stage name Pocah, detailed her tale in her Instagram stories, which have since been deleted, where she explained she wasn't on "farting terms" with her boyfriend, and even admitted to ignoring advice online from folks who told her to "ignore" her stomach pains.
According to the NY Post, doctors told her she was suffering from an “accumulation of trapped farts.”
According to Medical News Today, trapped gas occurs when methane does not move through one’s intestines normally, causing "sharp pain or discomfort in the abdomen."
However, this sort of thing is generally caused by certain foods and underlying medical conditions, like irritable bowel syndrome, rather than holding in your farts.
Luckily for Pereira, doctors were able to treat her, and she was released from the hospital.
She told her fans, "Girls, don’t be ashamed to fart in front of your guy, because what’s really embarrassing is not letting your guy sleep because you’re in discomfort, going to hospital with your guy, and the diagnosis being ‘trapped farts.' From now on, I’m letting them rip, guys."
