Liberty, MO - Things can be quite odd at the old Odd Fellow's Home on the south side of Liberty.
Now the Belvoir Winery and Inn, the Odd Fellow's property dates to the late 1800's and served as an orphanage, school, and old folks home operated by the Missouri International Order of the Odd Fellows, a fraternal organization.
There are three buildings that still remain - the Administration Building, the Old Folks Building and the Old Hospital which was built in the 1920s.
Belvoir now operates the property as a winery and tasting room, an event space for weddings and more, and runs the 9-room Inn at Belvoir Winery.
And... there are stories of paranormal encounters. Ghosts.
Belvoir CEO Jesse Leimkuehler says guests have reported hauntings and he admits he's seen ghosts as well. He's seen ghost-like images, he says, of a small child, a woman, and a figure in silhouette. He says he never felt scared, just surprised.
Leimkuehler says the 10,000 recorded deaths on the property when it was the Odd Fellow's facility may have something to do with the heightened paranormal activity.
The Belvoir Winery is open to the public seven days a week, with free wine tasting. Ghost sightings are free as well.
