
The governors of Kansas and Missouri decided to bring in help from their National Guards because of ongoing severe weather that has caused floods and tornado damage.
In Kansas, 49 of the state's 105 counties are part of Gov. Laura Kelly's disaster declaration. The governor has also asked for federal assistance.
The Army Corps of Engineers is watching levels on lakes across Kansas. Some are at record levels. The governor took a helicopter flight to see the flooding around the Tuttle, Perry and Milford reservoirs.In Missouri, tornado cleanup continues in Jefferson City and in Golden City. EF-3 tornadoes struck both towns Wednesday night. Three people were killed in Golden City.
Many communities along the Missouri River were still dealing with the aftermath of March flooding when severe weather and torrential rain began in May.
