Some people who live along Indian Creek in Kansas City believe more needs to be done to prevent flooding.

The floodwaters are beginning to chip away at walls and the trail along the creek, said Cassandra Risso.

"Somebody's going to get hurt," Risso said. "Everybody just sits back and holds their breath and waits, and (another flood) will happen. It is a certainty."

The city says it will spend $108,000 to buy and demolish the building that housed the old Coach's Bar and Grill. Engineers say the area will become green space to help absorb overflow water from the creek.

Risso said she has been through two floods in recent years.

"If I get hit again, I can't do a third time," Risso said. "How about we fix the problem?"
