Kansas City - There is no need for a fishing license for adults to fish Kansas public waters this weekend.
The KS Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism has designated June 1 and 2 as Free Fishing Days.
A standard fishing license in Kansas is $27.50 for residents and $52.50 non-residents.
The state allows one free weekend a year, said Ron Kaufman, KDWPT spokesman.
"It's close to the kickoff weekend, pretty much for out summer season, that and Memorial Day," Kaufman said.
Free Fishing Days is a popular event in Kansas. This year high water is posing a concern for a lot of anglers.
"We do sometimes see an increase in fishing success in high water," Kaufman said. "I would urge caution in high water, and certainly don't go around barricades."
