Kansas City, MO -  Mayor Quinton Lucas has extended the city's stay-at-home order until May 15.

The original order was set to expire on Friday, April 24th.

Kansas City Metro area health directors said they recommended extending the order to May 15 based on estimates that coronavirus infections in the Metro will likely peak at the end of April.

"It's important that we look at the data on the virus and react accordingly," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Kansas City Health Department. "We believe this timeline is what is best for the region to keep people safe."

The stay-at-home order requires Kansas City residents to stay at home unless they work at essential businesses, are getting supplies or necessary services, seeking medical care, caring for a family member or loved one, and exercising and maintaining personal health.
