Kansas City, MO - Family members of veterans will soon have a place to stay free of charge while their loved ones are receiving care at the VA Medical Center.

The nonprofit Fisher House Foundation broke ground this summer on a new Fisher House.  This will be the second one in Missouri.

The $7.5 million facility in Kansas City is designed to be a 'home away from home' and will have 16 suites for family members to stay, and includes common spaces and two large kitchens.

The house should be completed by summer of 2021, says Michelle Baldanza, VP of communications for the foundation.

According to the foundations website, the organization operates 90 Fisher Houses on 25 military installations and 40 VA medical centers.
