
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man and woman in a Ford Fusion were killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 at the 23rd Street on-ramp, Kansas City police said.
The Ford had been stolen during a robbery in Independence. Officers called off a pursuit of the vehicle before the crash that took place shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday.
The Fusion was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
The people who died were in their 20s, police said. The driver of the Chevrolet SUV was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
