The Kansas Department of Transportation has identified a snowplow driver who died in a rollover accident over the weekend.

Stephen Windler, 25, of Overland Park, lost control of the truck, which flipped over in a ditch before 6 a.m. Saturday on southbound U.S. 69 near 207th Street.

"When people are out there clearing the roads, they're putting their lives at risk so that we can be safe," said Julie Lorenz, Kansas Secretary of Transportation. "We all owe state workers a debt of gratitude for keeping us safe."

Windler leaves behind a son and a fiancee.

The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
