Jackson County authorities have issued a citation against a Lee's Summit man in connection with the laser pointer incident during the AFC Championship game last January at Arrowhead Stadium.
Video images reveal a laser dot on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who led his team to a 37-31 overtime victory over the Chiefs.
Dwyan Morgan, 64, is cited with disturbing the peace for allegedly aiming the laser device at Brady. The municipal violation is punishable by up to a year in jail or a fine up to $1,000.
Morgan is scheduled to appear in municipal court July 17.The Chiefs organization, wanting to send a strong message, has pushed for the harshest legal punishment possible. The team issued Morgan a lifetime ban from Arrowhead Stadium.
This was not the first laser pointer incident in NFL history. In November 2016, someone distracted former Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler during a Monday Night game against the Oakland Raiders in Mexico City.
