KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A new movie theater in northeast KC aims to bring Hispanic culture and art to the masses, whether moviegoers speak Spanish or not.
La Selva de los Relojes opened its doors recently on Saint John Avenue in Kansas City.
Owner Yosmel Serrano told KMBZ the cinema's name is derived from a poem, and is meant to create a sense of stepping back in time while bringing people together.
"I want to bring, from any place or time of Hispanic culture, anything that I can bring into our jungle of art," Serrano said.
La Selva de los Relojes translates in English to 'The Jungle of the Clocks."
"I always have English subtitles for the movies that are in Spanish," Serrano explained.
Movie tickets go for eight bucks per person, or six for students with a valid ID, and include popcorn to much on during the film.
Now showing: two documentaries, Reina de los Jueves, or Queen of Thursdays, and Severo Secreto, or Severe Secret.
