Kansas City, MO - Theres an old Latin phrase - caveat emptor.  In English - let the buyer beware.

A number of 'third-party' sellers hawking goods on Amazon, salvage their products from dumpsters, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

Not everything being sold through Amazon has been vetted by Amazon. Just about anyone can set up an account to sell or resell items on its ecommerce platform.

According to the report by the WSJ, Amazon said it has updated its policy to explicitly prohibit selling items taken from the trash.

Prior to the change, the company's rules did not explicitly prohibit the sale of items salvaged from the trash.
