It’s almost here! The 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards are less than a week away and we are losing sleep thinking about who will walk away with the prestigious Entertainer of the Year (EOTY) award. Will it be another tie? Will it be a repeat winner? We’re dying to know!

While the actual winner is voted on by ACM professional membership, we’re here to give our two cents and share why we think each nominee deserves the prize.

Country music’s family man, Thomas Rhett is vying for an ACM Entertainer of the Year award all his own this year after sharing the prize with Carrie Underwood in 2020. While we typically believe sharing is caring - there’s an exception to every rule. It’s fine. We’ve moved on, and are focused on a new year, which means a new opportunity for Rhett to walk away victorious.

If you ask us, the 31 year-old Georgia native has everything needed to be the sole winner of the award. From ridiculously catchy music, a rock solid fanbase, his own Tequila line and of course we have to mention his ridiculously adorable family (#goals), we see no reason Rhett shouldn’t walk away with the prize to himself.

He is currently readying for the release of his brand new double album, with the first part (Country Again - Side A) releasing April 30 and the second (Country Again - Side B) later this year. He released the title track, “Country Again” just this week, which serves up all the nostalgia and we’re here for it.

What makes Thomas a true stand-out contender isn’t just his ability to make good music and hit #1 time and time again, but the ways he gives back through philanthropic efforts, especially during such a trying year. While he’s used his celebrity status to give back to several charitable organizations throughout the years, a particular donation in connection to his song, “Be a Light” last year showcased his true colors and the soft spot he has for music industry workers everywhere.

Rhett revealed he would be donating all proceeds from his song, “Be a Light,” a mega-collaboration featuring Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin and Keith Urban  to GRAMMY’s MusicCares, which assists music industry professionals with financial, medical and rehabilitation assistance which were at an all time high due to the covid-19 pandemic. The song not only helped people financially, but it offered hope and positivity through a dark time as Rhett encouraged fans to submit their own videos of being a light in their communities.

“Absolutely blown away by all the light you guys are sharing,” said Thomas in an Instagram post sharing some of the content he received from fans. “Your pictures, videos & stories are lighting up the world.” Well, Thomas Rhett, you light up our world and the Country music community is a better place with you in it.

We look forward to a big night this Sunday for Thomas Rhett and should the academy name him the 2021 Entertainer of the Year, we’ll be sure to have his Dos Primos tequila on hand to celebrate. Cheers!
