So Adam Levine just got a massive tattoo on his leg, and because you clearly care or else you wouldn’t be here, we’re going to tell you all about it.

The wave-scape, similar to that of the famous art piece The Great Wave Off Kanagawa by Japanese artist Hokusai, makes for the Maroon 5 frontman’s 27th tattoo.
Wrapping around his entire limb, Adam admitted the body art took a total of 3 days to complete. The final day of which was Wednesday, March 24, when he took to social to reveal the nearly finished thigh high tat by sharing a video on his Instagram story, with an added message saying, "Today was ouch but worth it,” and crediting the tattoo artist Nathan Kostechko, who is actually also responsible for the large Immaculate Heart on Levine's neck.
Eager to show off his new ink, Adam continued posting, eventually displaying the completed work of leg art, while joking about how it’s "the most painful way to get a tan.”
Levine’s passion for tattoos is written (and drawn) all over his body, with two full sleeves, a fully tatted up back and minimum amount of space on his chest, the leg was clearly the next best choice for his latest addition.
And while 3 days might seem like a long time for the making of a tattoo, that’s nothing compared to large mural that spans the GRAMMY winners back. Featuring an intricate design of a mermaid with angel wings cradling a skull while surrounded by crashing waves, a lost ship and swallows, it took tattoo artist Bryan Randolph six months to create and complete back in 2016.
As he told people in 2013 for his Sexiest Man Alive cover interview, "Tattoos wind up being this strange road map or narrative over the years. They always remind me of this long, weird, awesome journey life has been.”
