Blake Griffin is latching on with the Brooklyn Nets in hopes of reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in his career.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski says that Griffin's agent informed him Sunday evening that the 31-year-old will join a star-studded team that also includes Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

Griffin, a six-time All-Star, recently agreed to a buyout with the Detroit Pistons, who he had played with since being acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers in January of 2018.

Griffin has played in just 38 games over the past two seasons, and has averaged an underwhelming 13.8 points per game over that span. At this stage of his career, the former No. 1 overall pick is coming on the be a role player, as opposed to the star that he once was.

Even though they've been without Durant and Irving for stretches of the 2020-21 season, the Nets are currently sitting at 24-13, good for second place in the Eastern Conference.
