It was a long wait, but Brothers Osborne’s latest record Skeletons has finally arrived, hitting shelves earlier in October.
It’s always great catching up with T.J. and John Osbrone before the 2020 CMA Awards, even more so after they’ve released a new Brothers Osborne record.
“I’d hug you right now if there wasn’t a pandemic going on,” John said. The feeling is mutual.
Part of Brothers Osborne’s success stems from their seamless ability to crossover Country music with Rock. They grew up listening to “old rock and country,” which makes it even more exciting that they are taking part in the Charlie Daniels tribute at the 2020 CMA Awards.
“What’s so special about that is that’s what he loves. He was Country music and Southern rock.” John said. “The fact we get to be a part of that is great.”
“It is a big part of who we are,” John said when referencing the Brothers’ Rock sound. “When you go to see a live show of ours, it’s no secret that we love Rock music.”
It’s no secret Brothers Osborne is psyched to be a part of the Charlie Daniels tribute. Still, they admitted it’ll be nice to finally get up there and perform after people have been asking them what song they’re going to cover.
“I love that we’re not supposed to be telling people which songs we’re playing,” John said. People have been asking them what Charlie Daniels song they’ll be playing and after the Brothers say they can’t tell them, they’ll inevitably be asked “OK, which one of you is doing ‘Devil Went Down To Georgia?’”
“Wouldn’t it be funny if we did a Charlie Daniels tribute and didn’t do ‘Devil Went Down To Georgia?’ It would burn the place down!” John joked.
“We need to get you a really big belt buckle,” T.J. added with a laugh.
