A terminally ill Cleveland Browns fan had a front-row seat for team history on Sunday -- thanks in part to star quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily.
Lifelong Browns fan Top Seipel, who is in hospice care with stage four kidney cancer, made the trip to Cleveland from his home in Georgia to watch the Browns' playoff-clinching victory over the rival Pittsburgh Steelers at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday.
Seipel took in the Browns' win -- which ended an 18-year playoff drought -- from the comfort of the Mayfields' suite at the stadium.
Emily Mayfield offered up the seats when she heard Seipel, a pastor and former missionary, would be attending. Seipel's situation came to her attention through the popular Browns podcast Dawgs of War, the hosts of which became familiar with Seipel through his posting on a Browns Reddit page.
The Dawgs of War podcasters kicked off a fundraiser which covered some of Seipel's expenses, People reported, and that's when the Mayfields stepped in to do their part.
Baker Mayfield later posted a video on Instagram, thanking Seipel for his support and calling him "extremely inspirational."
Seipel posted a series of photos and videos from the game on social media, including one where he shared a hug with Emily after the Browns sealed the win.
"Every step of the way, I didn't think anything could possibly beat that," Seipel later recalled.
