After Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s fiery joint performance of “WAP” last weekend at the 2021 GRAMMYs, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was flooded with complaints after the show aired.

While we’re here to say that we fully endorse the “Macaroni in a pot” moment and ate up all of Cardi and Meg’s choreography and sexually charged energy, we still must report on the ludicrous critiques of 80 pearl-clutching viewers who could not handle the super-charged moment shared between two iconic Black women on the GRAMMYs stage.

While both rappers opted for the clean version of “WAP’ leaving out explicit lyrics, these particular viewers were shocked by the choreography and costumes.

One viewer wrote that it looked “as if they were dancing in a strip club.” In addition, an Idaho viewer added, “The outfits they were wearing and the movements they did were absolutely disgusting. This network should face very stiff penalties”.

But okay, let’s be real… wasn’t that the point? Once Cardi had a giant platformed heel role out on stage, which quite literally doubled as a stripper pole, we think it is safe to say that nothing was really left up for interpretation.

As a matter of fact, both Cardi and Meg knew exactly what they were doing. They pushed viewers to their limits, got people talking, and in a world that exists on a 24-hour news cycle the women behind “WAP” still have us discussing their performance from a week ago… you don’t see us reporting on Harry Style’s feather boas anymore. Viewer's complaints from the FCC will promptly be left in the dust as the head hottie and the BARDI gang matriarch continue to push the envelope.

Alongside complaints about exposing outfits and sexual dance moves, many complaints referred to cancel culture, leaving some disgruntled viewers not understanding why Cardi B wouldn’t be canceled after this performance, but some children’s books by Dr. Seuss could be. “The media has a problem with Dr. Seuss, yet allows Cardi B to sing about her WAP on national television,” complained a Texas viewer.

Sigh…. we’re not going to even get into it and let Cardi’s Twitter response do the explaining here. Nonetheless, we’re rolling our eyes.

Cardi clapped back on Twitter and said, “When has a school made kids read the lyrics to wap? I get it wap might be a lil vulgar but stop comparing a sensual song to books that has RACIST content! How can ya not tell the difference?I see that common sense aint that common.”

She followed up with this perfect response too, “Conservatives been making viral tweets comparing WAP to the banning of some Dr Seuss books as if there’s any correlations between the two…..Well I can DEFINITELY tell some of ya ONLY read dr Seuss books cause ya minds lacks comprehension.”

Additionally, these complaints to the FCC don’t go on to acknowledge that Dr. Seuss Enterprises chose to pull books that “portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong”.

Finally, to take it all to another level of backward thinking a viewer wrote, “Why was that performance, okay but Pepe Le Pew is offensive?”

In a recent New York Times column by Charles M. Blow, the writer criticized the cartoon skunk because the nature of his personality “normalized rape culture.”

For example, If you know anything about Pepe Le Pew then you know that his aggressive personality could have easily earned him a cameo in Robin Thicke’s ultra-problematic “Blurred Lines” music video… need we say more?

Anyway, now that we’ve filled you in on the various complaints of uptight viewers, who apparently have time to file complaints to the FCC, we’ll just reiterate… this is a Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion stan account.
