Chris, who is set to perform “Famous Friends,” alongside collaborator, Kane Brown, tells us that he is beyond proud of the song and “couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Young also tells us, “I made this song so personal, these are all my actual friends, these are all real people and it’s been cool seeing everyone else’s reaction to it and going, ‘oh this reminds me of my friends so and so.’”
Everyone featured in Young and Kane’s music video for “Famous Friends” is genuinely one of either of the Country star’s friends. Chris says the firefighter featured in the music video is his friend Brandon who he mentions at the beginning of the track.
In terms of performing live during this year’s ACM awards, Chris says he and Kane still have not performed this song in front of “a really big crowd yet,” and while there won’t be a live audience at this year’s award show it will be televised to viewers across the county.
The one thing that is “a bit weird” for Chris is that he still doesn’t know how the song will play in front of a large festival or arena-sized crowd. “I don’t know what that will be like the first time it happens. I’m used to watching a song, you know as it goes up the charts, I’m like I can see this starting to kick in with everybody, and we’re kind of going to go zero to 100 when I finally get to play this,” explains Young.
Don’t miss Chris Young at the ACM Awards this Sunday, April 18 at 8PM ET/ 5PM PT on CBS.
