Country icon Dolly Parton is now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Parton took to social media to share the news with fans thanking Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Dr. Naji Abumrad, Andrea Calhoun, and Heather O'Dell for administering her doses of the Moderna vaccine at Vanderbilt Health Nashville.
Parton received her first dose of the vaccine in March and posted a video sharing her experience. She pleaded with viewers to get vaccinated and even playfully changed the lyrics to her 1974 hit, "Jolene," to fit the occasion. "Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I'm beggin' of you please don't hesitate," she sang to the classic tune.

Parton donated $1 million to vaccine research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the beginning months of the pandemic in honor of her good friend, Dr. Naji Abumrad, who was part of vaccine research at the institution.
The Moderna vaccine is one of the three vaccines authorized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The other approved vaccines are Pfizer-BioNTech, and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen.
“The sooner we get to feeling better, the sooner we are going to get back to being normal,“ shared Parton. “So I just want to say to all of you cowards out there - don’t be such a chicken squat, get out there and get your shot!”
