According to Basketball Reference, there have been 154 individual seasons in which a player has averaged at least 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. It shows a well-rounded player and disregards their contributions in the scoring department, though getting points accompanies these rebound/assist totals more often than not. Of those 154 seasons, the player has scored over 11.0 points per game in all but 11 occurrences.
Count Draymond Green for five of those outlier seasons. That's been his output throughout his whole career — nothing too crazy in the scoring department, with great all-around numbers in a Swiss army knife role for the Warriors — and he's taking it to another level this season.
No player had ever averaged at least 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists but scored fewer than 7.0 points, but that's what Green is doing this year.
NBA players with 6.0 rebounds, >6.0 assists in single season
Friday night served as a reminder of his interesting numbers, as he casually scored two points on zero field goals... while adding 11 rebounds and 13 assists in an oh-so-Draymond stat line. In doing so, he became the first player to record multiple games with double-digit rebounds and assists at the same time as he recorded zero field goals in the three-point era.
The other game to fit the description came in 2016 against the Thunder, when Green went 0-8 from the field but added two points at the free throw line to go along with 14 rebounds, 14 assists, 6 steals and 4 blocks. They were the seventh and eighth contests in NBA history in which such a feat was accomplished, putting him in interesting company.
NBA players with games in which they recorded 0 FG, >10 assists, >10 rebounds
We may never see another NBA figure in the same mold as Draymond Green, so we should probably appreciate the special player that he is, especially after nights in which he posts such outrageously odd stat lines as he did on Friday.
