In stunning news, Santa Claus did not participate in the Atlanta Falcons' practice on Friday leading up to their Week 16 clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.
As a smaller note of less importance, wide receiver Julio Jones was ruled out for Sunday after failing to log any practice sessions over the past week, according to the team's injury report.
In actuality, according to Will McFadden of AtlantaFalcons.com, the Falcons did not practice on Christmas, though they released an estimated injury report for Friday which includes Julio Jones, Darqueze Dennard, Alex Mack and James Carpenter as inactive for Sunday's game. Listed as questionable are Brandon Powell, Ricardo Allen and Marlon Davidson.
Also listed on the report as a "DNP" for Friday was Todd Gurley, though this shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who has followed the team or owned Gurley on their fantasy squads. The once-dominant running back has totaled 60 rushing yards on 23 carries over the past four weeks, without any touchdowns.
And so it will be Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Hayden Hurst, Ito Smith and Brian Hill shouldering the load on offense as Matt Ryan's supporting cast. They'll need to bring every bit of their A-game if they want to compete against the high-powered Chiefs offense, especially with Santa Claus' status a game-time decision.
