You have to admit... George Kittle catching passes from Trevor Lawrence would make for a pretty exciting duo.
But 49ers fans don't have to worry about that becoming a real scenario, nor do I think anyone seriously took more than two seconds to even think that George Kittle's tweet on April Fools' Day was legitimate.
But it apparently caught 49ers general manager John Lynch off guard, and he wasn't all that into the joke.
Or maybe he too was playing along, seeing as he's, well, the general manager. I think he'd be well aware if they were planning on doing something like, oh, I don't know, trading away the best player on their team.
Kittle also caught the attention of Jaguars co-owner Tony Khan, the son of team owner Shad Khan.
Kittle and the Jags had some more fun with the tweet after the initial shock — if there really was any — wore off.
But seeing as the 49ers offered him a five-year, $75 million extension as he continues to fight for the label of top tight end with guys like Travis Kelce, we can safely say that he's not going anywhere. Not gonna happen. Sorry, Jags fans.
April Fools' is over. Now, it's time to get back to worrying about what the heck the 49ers will decide with the NFL Draft looming and a franchise-altering decision ahead.
