In honor of Black History Month, Emmy Award winning Pittsburgh rapper Frzy joined The Bubba Show on 100.7 Star Pittsburgh to explain how Black History Month is celebrated around the world.

"This is something really cool I want to share with everybody that's really dope, but it gives you perspective on the world," Frzy said. "That Black History Month is celebrated differently around the world completely."

Frzy went on to give a new Black History Month fact, showing people how and when it's celebrated in other parts of the world.

"For those who know Black History Month facts, right, this is a new one," Frzy said. "In the United States and Canada, we celebrate Black History Month in February. However, in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and in the Netherlands, they honor the month in October. In 2014, Ireland became only the fourth country in the world to celebrate Black History Month, which is very interesting.

The Emmy Award winner was a bit upset when he first learned that only four countries around the world celebrate Black History Month, but then did some more research as to why it isn't celebrated by more countries.

"Now at first that made me mad at first, but I have to understand that America is very unique to the Black experience, right, with slavery and slave trades and different things in London and Caribbean and things like that. But America's relationship with the union an everything is big, with us celebrating it is the same with Juneteenth. A day that we only celebrate here, not around the world, because that's when the slaves were freed.

Frzy is proud that other countries have slowly started to celebrate Black History Month, even though it was originated in the United States.

"So it's interesting to see that other places around the world, though they don't have the same Black experience as America, and though as y'all have learned from the other fact, Black History Month started here. Other countries are starting to celebrate it as well because of the things from the past to elevate the future."

To find out more informational Black History Month facts, tune into the Bubba Show, airing Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on 100.7 Star, and keep an ear out for guest Frzy to stop by and share a new fact all month long.
