Jaycee Horn, son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, is about to embark on an NFL career of his own as one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2021 draft, but he’s still getting plenty of questions about his father.

Namely, where was he during the iconic flip phone celebration on Sunday night against the New York Giants in 2003?

Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden asked Jaycee this very question on the “All Things Covered” podcast; while Jaycee was only four years old at the time, he still had an amazing backstory to that moment.

“I was at the crib,” Jaycee said. “My mom didn’t let us go to Sunday night games cuz we had school the next day. So she – we was begging to go and she didn’t let us go. My dad was like ‘I’m gonna call you. I’m gonna call you.’ So, he got in the end zone and guess that was his way of showing us.”

To clarify, Joe Horn did not actually call his family on the phone. But the backstory behind the celebration is still pretty cool.

The NFL did not find the moment all that cool, though. Joe Horn was fined $30,000 by the league for the celebration — one of the most memorable celebrations in league history.

So much so, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas paid homage to Joe Horn with the same celebration in 2018 and was also fined the same amount of money for use of a prop.

Jaycee, meanwhile, will be trying to prevent touchdowns in his career.

The University of South Carolina product is projected to be a first-round pick and is arguably the top cornerback in the draft, along with Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II.

“I would put myself at the top,” he said. “I’m sure they would say the same thing but I feel like what separates me is my versatility. The way I compete. I feel like if you watch me on tape and watch them, it’s two different animals you’re looking at. … I’m a dog, man. I don’t know about them. But I always feel like I’m the biggest dude on the field and try to play that way, so I feel like that separates me from the ret of the dudes in the class.”
