Whether you were into her vibe or not, there’s no denying Avril Lavigne was a pop punk princess in the early 00s and there was nothing complicated about it.
Listen to your favorite music now on RADIO.COM.
Deviating from her early on heavy black eyeliner, tie rocking, idgaf vibes with her more recent albums, we’re excited to see what album number 7 has in store, and apparently we won’t have to wait that much longer to find out.
On Saturday, Avril responded to an eager fan on Instagram confirming that her seventh studio album is “done,” with no definite release date, but a promise that music is “coming soon. For sure summer.”
If we’re to listen to rock producer and Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann, Avril plans to return to her angsty ways we fondly remember. Just a few months ago, Feldmann spoke with Australia's Wall of Sound and excitedly told them of his plans to bring Avril back to her pop punk roots with this new album. Yes please! Take us back to the days of Let Go and Under My Skin.
Another indicator Avril’s back on the pop punk track, she’s been hanging out and collaborating with Machine Gun Kelly, who recently made the extremely successful transition to the genre with his album Tickets To My Downfall. Avril also teamed up with MGK’s writing partner Mod Sun, on the song “Flames,” that is definitely giving us some major “When You’re Gone” vibes and we’re here for it. The two have since actually sparked romance rumors, which we’re also here for.
Wanna see the sparks fly, check out the music video for “Flames” below.
