According to new information and reporting from TMZ, the recent theft of Lady Gaga’s two dogs, and the shooting that left her dog walker hospitalized, may have been the result of a gang initiation.

The two french bull dogs were recovered, but the $500,000 reward has not been handed over yet, as the police have not cleared the woman who found and returned the dogs.

TMZ reports that police do not believe at this time that the woman is involved in the violent incident, but she has not been ruled out yet either and is under investigation.

There’ve been several reported cases of dog-napping at gunpoint in and around Los Angeles, and the LAPD is trying to make the connection.

In surveillance video of the shooting of Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, he appears to be standing far enough away from the dogs and the thieves to question why he was even shot -- leading police consider the possibility of gang involvement.
