ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A very busy weekend for St. Louis Firefighters, battling several first alarm fires between Saturday night and Sunday.

The most recent has claimed the life of a person. The fire broke out in a four family apartment building in the 5800 block of Roosevelt. When crews arrived, fire was visible. Fire investigators and the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson are investigating, which is routine when there is a fatality.

Early this (Sunday) morning, firefighters battled a blaze in a vacant commercial building. St. Louis Fire Captain Garon Mosby says there was another first alarm fire at Jefferson and Allen in South City. It was a vacant three story brick building with fire that extended through the roof.

A person is in serious condition after being rescued from a vacant building at Skinker and Etzel. Firefighters were evacuating because of the deteriorating building conditions, but before that found the person who was trapped.

And late Saturday night, a home in the 6800 block of Scanlan had a fire on the first floor, there were no reports of injuries
