Kansas City, MO – With different sets of rules state-by-state, it can be difficult to figure out who is eligible to get the coronavirus vaccine, and when one will become eligible.
This chart compiled by the Associated Press can help determine when and if you're able to get the vaccine now, or if you must wait. Additionally, the chart shows just how much of the population has been vaccinated. And it has a phone number listed for each state to call to get information on the vaccination schedules and eligibility.
In states like Missouri, those who are in a high-risk group (aged 65 and older) are eligible to get the vaccine along with healthcare workers, frontline essential workers, some first responders, and longterm care facility residents.
For many states, the criteria is very similar.
That said, a recent poll shows that nearly 25% of Americans have said they would never get the coronavirus vaccine, leaving themselves at risk of infection.
Meanwhile, 72% of Democrats have said they will get the vaccine immediately when it's available to them. This is compared to 39% of Republicans who have said the same thing. Together, this equates to 50% of all Americans.
The poll, conducted by Monmouth University, also states that those who are in an older age group are more eager to get the vaccine than those in a younger age bracket.
Workplaces around the country are working to get their employees vaccinated - some have even offered up incentives for to get the vaccine. And despite the challenges that stand between many Americans and the vaccine, stores across the country are hoping to be convenient vaccination sites for many.
Household name drugstores and grocers are offering to administer the vaccine on their premises with CVS releasing a list of 11 states where COVID vaccines will be available at select locations.
