KANSAS CITY - Tributes are coming in for sports broadcaster Brian McKenna, who died early this (Saturday) morning after being hit by a car on Hampton and Nottingham in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood.

Cardinals Broadcaster Mike Claiborne says Brian was one of the most engaging people he ever worked with. "He had a great sense of humor, I think that's the one thing most people will remember about him. He was quick, I'm sure he could be a joke writer if he wanted to be. But more importantly he was passionate person about his family and friends. He was one of those guys you really had to be on the wrong side of things in order for Brian to like you. He was always thoughtful, very supportive of various causes.

Claiborne says Brian put his backbone where his mouth was. McKenna fought Cancer, but never let it bring him down, he said he would fight it and he did with grace and courage.

St. Louis Police say the vehicle that hit McKenna remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators, however they are not releasing any particulars.

Funeral services are pending.
