KANSAS CITY - The United States Food and Drug Administration just announced that it is elevating a recent butter recall to the second-highest level because the recalled dairy product may cause “adverse health consequences” if consumed.
The F-D-A says the problem with the N-H European Style Butter Blend is it has milk in it, but there’s no milk listed in the ingredients. That, clearly, can be bad for people with a milk allergy. The recall coving 65-thousands pounds of butter was first issued last month, but was just upped to a higher level.
The butter, sold in one-pound packages, is made by Missouri-based Bunge North America Inc.
The details of the now-recalled butter are as follows:
NH EUROPEAN STYLE BUTTER BLEND, BUNGE, NET WT 1 LB, MFD IN USA BY: Bunge Oils, Chesterfield, MO 63017, packed in white paperboard cases (36 blocks to a case) OW NH EURO BLEND SOLIDS 2015918.
Product: 5023937, UPC: 1 00 78684 73961 2, Lot code: 5064036503.
The recalled butter was distributed across the country and sold via various retailers, including online retailers such as Amazon.
