KANSAS CITY - St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore says he received a letter from a non-profit watchdog group, asking him to seek the removal of city sheriff Alfred Montgomery from office.
"I intend to look at the law, and the facts, evaluate it, and exercise my best judgment moving forward. That's what I do in every matter," Gore told reporters, Tuesday.
The "Holy Joe Society" accuses Sheriff Montgomery of misusing public resources, abusing his authority, handing out unprofessional discipline, and failing to complete core duties.
Montgomery's office disputes the claims as lacking credible evidence.
In another matter, Gabe Gore told the media Tuesday that he is not a candidate to replace the outgoing Sayler Fleming as U.S Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri. He said he intends to serve his entire term as circuit attorney. Fleming has not said what she'll be doing next.
