KANSAS CITY - An 18-year-old man is dead after being shot in Pittsburg, in southeast Kansas.
First responders were dispatched just before 9 p.m. Friday to Schlanger Park after a report of a shooting.
When emergency crews arrived, they found an 18-year-old man dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Adam Basauri from Girard. His body was taken to Kansas City for an autopsy.
Witnesses at the park said the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. Deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office found the 17-year-old suspect and their vehicle in nearby Arma.
Police say a brief fight took place between Basauri and the suspect prior to the shooting.
The suspect was arrested for second degree murder. The investigation is ongoing.
